Zachary Getz, PT, DPT, OCS
Hi, I’m Dr. Zach Getz. I’m the owner of Gotham Physical Therapy. I earned my Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Columbia University where I followed the orthopedic track and was honored with the Faculty Award for Excellence in Orthopedics. I am a board-certified clinical specialist in orthopedic physical therapy (OCS). I received my bachelor’s degree in athletic training at Southeast Missouri State University and as a student athletic trainer I worked with several collegiate sports teams including gymnastics, basketball, track and field, cross country, and football. After undergrad I served six years in the Marine Corps and deployed to Iraq twice as a tank platoon commander.
I believe strongly in the human body’s ability to adapt and to heal if given the right environment. My treatment style focuses heavily on education and exercises you can do yourself and not on passive treatments that you need to get from me week after week. My goal is to give you the tools you need to succeed, and to be your guide along the path to recovery.
I really enjoy teaching and have been a teaching assistant in the past for Columbia University’s physical therapy program and have served several times as a clinical instructor for physical therapy students. When I’m not at work I like to hang out at home in the East Village, read, play video games, and try to make the perfect cup of coffee. I play ice hockey at Chelsea Piers and go for a run when the mood hits me. Born and raised in St. Louis, I love the Cardinals and the Blues, and I’m so happy they finally won the Stanley Cup!
Meet the rest of the team:
As a physical therapist, my goal is to help my patients achieve independence and higher functioning as quickly as possible. I believe that the road to health and recovery is best done by viewing the individual as a whole person with unique goals and limitations.
